Virtual Q&A on Wednesday, February 10, 6:00–7:00 p.m.

CHM members and Historical Alliance are invited to join Peter T. Alter, CHM chief historian and director of the Studs Terkel Center for Oral History, for a close reading of Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle (1906). Alter’s reading guide for the book will lead you through this exposé of the horrid working conditions in the Chicago stockyards and meatpacking plants, providing context and drawing parallels to workers’ struggles in present-day Chicago.

A prerecorded video and reading guide will be sent to registrants on Tuesday, January 26, and we will gather virtually on Wednesday, February 10, for a Q&A session.

Please RSVP by Monday, January 25, to receive the video and reading guide. This exclusive event is free for CHM members and Historical Alliance.
