Saturdays, January 29 and February 26 (Must attend both sessions), 9:00 a.m.–NOON
Calling all bookworms! This year, our featured book is A Queer History of the United States for Young People by Michael Bronski and adapted by Richie Chevat. This work can support your classroom implementation of Illinois’ Inclusive Curriculum Law, and the chronological format makes it easy to weave into your US history instruction. It was named as one of the best nonfiction books of 2019 by the School Library Journal and is highly recommended by Social Justice Books and Edutopia. Our study of the book will be enriched by sharing collection materials from the Museum, modeling instructional activities, and presentations from local experts.
18 PD hours total. $50; book is included. Asynchronous discussion and resource sharing will take place between sessions via Basecamp.
