Our Book Club focus this year is One Step Forward by Marcie Flinchum Atkins. This historical fiction verse novel is inspired by the real-life story of Matilda Young, the youngest suffragist imprisoned for picketing the White House. The narrative verse tells her personal story while also illuminating the complexities of the larger movement for women’s voting rights.
