Aqui en Chicago Private Tour | American Studies Association Conference

Join Dr. Elena Gonzales, Curator of Civic Engagement & Social Justice at CHM and Lead Curator of Aquí en Chicago for a tour of the exhibition during its final days (closes November 8th). In 2019, students from Instituto Justice and Leadership Academy in Pilsen protested CHM for the lack of Latine representation.  This exhibition contextualizes their protest in a toolkit of diverse types of social justice work and examines Chicago history as Latine. Elena has a masters in Public Humanities and doctorate in American Studies from Brown University and is the author of Exhibitions for Social Justice.
